For sale is my 1978 Z650B


With 12 months MOT until Nov 2018


I inherited the bike in the very nicely finished aesthetic style you see here.

The frame, wheels and tank were powder coated by pervious owner and battery and electrics all mounted in a tidy little box under the seat.



Work I’ve had done on it in the 6 months I’ve owned it:

‘New’ (used but tested and working) starter motor from another z650 b

Fitted New black TEC rear shocks

All electrics and wiring re done and a barelless key-fob alarm / ignition system fitted.


New seals and servicing for front brake callipers

New alternator cover

New speedo cable fitted.

New Clutch Cables

New Throttle Cables

new cafe grips.



The cylinder head has been Crack tested

Inlet valves re seated

All valves lapped

New bore, head gaskets

New Piston rings on cylinder 3



New carb inlet rubbers x 4

Full carb rebuild kit, gaskets and ultrasonic cleaning

Float levels

Balanced and tuned

Pilot mixtures

Air correction kit


New plugs, leads and coils

New condenser, points and timing plate.


Additional features of the bike:

Avon Road Rider tyres with loads of tread still left in them

Haris 4 into 1 exhaust which is subtle but nice and growley when you open it up a bit

flattened and simplified brat-style back end.

KN pod filters.

Additional rear set available that gives a more ‘racey’ leg position.



The bike has had a lot of work done since I’ve had it. All undertaken by a new bike shop in south london.

Work reflects in the riding of the bike. good power delivery and a smooth and balanced ride.

its not the biggest engine ever but its a very well balanced and solid riding bike.

The engine is almost 40 years old so don’t expect it to run like a brand new Ninja. but its still excellent for getting around and pulls really well out on the faster roads too.


Inherited the bike with very little, almost no service history, and no verified mileage, but the engine and carb rebuild has gone a long way to restoring the power and longevity of the bike.
