I’ve recently had a ‘special’ birthday and am now the owner of a Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled and it is with a heavy heart that I’m selling my beloved W650 Street Scrambler.
The ‘W’ has been transformed into this awesome Street Scrambler by Ian and Jim at Cross Customs in Lincolnshire, these guys are renowned for building, painting and racing their own machines on the drag strips, including Santapod- so they know what they’re doing! You can see the guys on the strip in one of the photos.
When I first bought the ‘W’ back in 2012 I originally changed it to a café racer, The custom seat (bought for £260), ace bars (bought for £45), bar end mirror (bought for £45) and Bridgestone Battlax tyres come with the bike, in case you fancy changing it in the future!
Now: The Street Scrambler!
She’s a beauty. She sounds amazing, she runs superbly. She’s had a LOT of money spent on her. She’s unique and certainly draws attention wherever she goes. Here’s what’s been done, and the costs where appropriate (minus all the labour!):
-Comes with 10 months MOT
-2 original mirrors
-2 original keys
-DYNO printout (Dyno time from July- £120)
-W650 tank finished in 1970s Kawasaki H2 Bronze Flake Metallic – the guys researched and matched the paint as used in the 70s! No decals used, all paint and a quality finish (£500)
-New RG Series YSS adjustable shocks (£515)
-Koso RX2 Dash, you can change the backlight colours! (£214)
-Engine casings and bar stocks polished
-New heavy duty gold chain (£35)
-Hel front brake cable (£32)
-Custom made down pipes, wrapped
-Aftermarket end cans, nice and loud but legal! (£120)
-Metzeler Karoo3 tyres (£165)
-Seat bespoke covered in finest brown leather, hand-made (£225)
-New grips (£25)
-4 LED indicators (£35)
-Custom made tail tidy
-New lights front and LED back (£60)
-Lightweight Gel battery (£60)
-Custom made battery box
-Dual K&N filters (£85)
-Electrics stripped out, redone and hidden
-Black MotoX style bars (£60)
She’s been left as kick-start only (she starts easily) to give the real old-school feel. The only thing I haven’t done is fit new switch gear to the bars (It currently still has the electric start button but is kick-start only now) This obviously isn’t a major job. I’ve left it in case the new owner wishes to re-jig it as electric start too. Would just need starter gear and pin, relay and main cable.
The ‘W’ has been kept in a dry cabin, hardly ever been out in the wet and cleaned often! At bike meets over the summer she always attracts lots of attention and is stunning. I’d like her to go to a good home! I can supply videos of her running, being started, high res pics etc.
