Here’s your once-in-a-lifetime chance to own a very special ride: the "Hang Loose":
a stunning 2019 model Triumph Speed Twin custom built motorcycle.
Winner of the 2019/2020 "Triumph - Custom Aces" design competition.
Voted "Best in Show" at the German Café Racer Forum 2020 annual meeting.
The Hang Loose story:
Upon hearing about the "Triumph - Custom Aces" design competition in 2019, the guys at Machbar Industries (German for "doable" or "do it-bar") saw the perfect opportunity to put their heads together and come up with something very special: inspired by the work of the legendary "Tracy’s Fibreglass Works" of California, they felt this was the perfect opportunity to create a build that had been on their minds for a long time...
Renowned surfboard builder Tracy Nelson, started his company in 1969 and it quickly grew to employ over 100 people. Tracy captured the spirit of the 60s perfectly with his extroverted designs and flowing lines of his monocoque body parts. At the time a young artist named Jim Phillips played a decisive role in creating the exclusive designs and later went on to become a world famous artist, while also becoming chief designer for Santa Cruz Skateboards, where many of his iconic designs have achieved lasting cult status.
Jim personally supported the Triumph "Hang Loose" project from the very beginning and gladly honoured the finished build with his original signature!
A brand new 2019 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 was supplied directly by Triumph Motorcycles and provided the right basis for the project, promising up-to-date technology, safety and comfort.
An important goal for the transformation, apart from a breathtaking appearance, was a high degree of everyday rideability and performance.
The creation of the hand-made aluminium monocoque was the major focus. The tank-tail combination was drafted as a flip-top construction and neatly attaches to the original seat lock.
Jim Phillips himself, provided the template for the unique multi-layered metal flake paintwork. The perfectly crafted seat and reshaped front fender complete the flowing lines of the bike beautifully.
The aluminium headlight fairing boasts a wonderfully compact design that includes a Makrolon shield, effectively concealing the comparatively large original instrument cluster. It also houses a smaller LED headlight taken from the Triumph "Bobber".
Machined from solid aluminium with hidden brackets and fasteners, the words "perfect ergonomics" aptly describe the custom made top triple clamp and clip-on handlebars and needless to say, are very pleasing to look at.
The realization of all metalwork, artistic bodywork construction, extraordinary lacquer design and seating comfort was done solely in collaboration with seasoned professionals!
Delicate yet powerful, best describes the appearance of the classy spoked wheels (taken from the Thruxton R), sporting elegant black rims and Bridgestone's rugged looking AX41S high-performance tyres.
Two SC Project slip-on silencers provide an exhilarating soundtrack coming from the powerful Speed Twin 1200 engine.
Not only does it look stunning, it also RIDES really WELL! The chassis is a new development from suspension specialists YSS Europe and was specifically tuned for this bike at their research and development facilities in The Netherlands.
Many more wonderful details enhance the bike:
· machined levers– Triumph – modified
· custom-made aluminium fork covers
· aluminium skid plate
· relocated ignition lock
· Kellerman turn signal/rear light combination
· aluminium brake fluid reservoir
· many custom parts are powder coated
And so here it is, the exclusive opportunity to soon call the "Hang Loose", an exceptional and exciting motorcycle, a top-class custom build with a unique story, your very own.
To make this project truly your own, changes and special requests concerning technical and/or design modifications may be discussed.
