Genuine 1979 Rickman Kawasaki 1170 CR (Cafe racer / Circuit Racer).
Registered as an Historic vehicle - ULEZ, TAX and MOT exempt and clear to cruise London Centre unimpeded!
Owned by me for over 30 years this was originally supplied as a 3/4 faired full-on cafe racer. All original parts are still available from me if required.
Rickman's are rare in this condition and would make a sound investment.
Now re-modelled as a Sprint bike / Cruiser hybrid with modern tyres and suspension.
Bike has lowered seat height and is physically small for a 1200. Minimal weight makes it fantastic handling machine and a monster off the line. Big motor means you can pull top gear from as low as 25mph smoothly and safely.
Has featured twice in National magazines, most recently in Practical Sportsbikes, and got a great review even against modern machines. Loads of provenance with this bike.
1170cc, hi-comp pistons, gas flowed head. Only approx 5000miles since full conversion.
Output in region of 140bhp+
Reynolds 531 light weight tubing. Bronze welded and bright nickle plated (this is still the original finish from 1979 and has not been replated as it is in excellent condition).
AP Lockheed brakes front and rear.
Don and Derek Rickman were world class scramblers in the 60/70's. They moved on from MX chassis design to build race chassis for the new big jap four cylinder bikes whose standard frames could not cope. Their bikes were the best handling of the 70's and bought in kit form by most. The frames are a thing of beauty and strength but very low weight.
